Adam Flint (b. USA) is an independent designer and assistant professor / program director of visual communication at Iceland University of the Arts.
Recent projects include Out Freedom Way at the Latvian Museum of Decorative Arts and Design (Riga) and Legislation Kitchen with Artists in Iceland Visa Action Group [AIVAG] at Gallery Port (Reykjavík). During June, 2023 Adam was the Researcher in Residence in Freetown Christiania (Copenhagen) investigating the history of anti-capitalist graphic design under anarchy. During Iceland’s DesignMarch 2024, he held the exhibition Orange Work at Núllið Gallerý (Reykjavík).
For the past decade, he has collaborated on exhibitions with cultural institutions such as the California Museum, di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art, Southern Utah Museum of Art, and Höfuðstöðin, among others. Adam has designed for an array of nonprofits including the Center for the Study of Political Graphics, FairVote and the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah.
Adam received his MFA from the University of California, Davis, where he studied the design of the US’ voting system. His project won UC Davis’ Savageau Award, given to “recognize and celebrate creative and original contributions to the discipline of design.” During the 21-22 academic year, he received a Fulbright / Icelandic Ministry of Education & Culture grant.
His current research interests involve the design of elections, participatory art and design and connections between graphic design and utopia.
